Mestre Bimba's Teaching Sequences

School of Capoeira - Newcastle upon Tyne logo

Mestre Bimba created sets of teaching sequences consisting of movements and counter movements, to help students learn how the common capoeira movements fit together. The first set is known as Sequenca, part one of which is listed below...

If you want to know the rest, you'll have to come along to a Filhos de Bimba class. Some moves, especially Cintura Desprezada can be dangerous if not taught properly, and practiced properly.

First Sequence
Player A   Player B
Mei Lua de Frente Guarda Baixa
Mei Lua de Frente (other leg) Guarda Baixa
Armarda Negativa
Au
Players exchange position A & B, and perform sequence again

Note: The arrows give a rough sense of the direction of play, obviously an attacking move should come before your opponant defends it!
